9.45. Building restoration of the Sebasteion propylon by Eusebes and Menandros

Description: Two white marble architrave blocks, incorporating architrave and frieze: a. complete (w: 2.80 × h: 0.67 × d: 0.67); b. broken at left, damaged below, and a fragment added at the right end in 1982 (w: 1.63 × h: 0.69 × d: 0.55). Above, a decoration of heads and masks in relief; below, a simple moulding, and below that two fasciae.

Text: Inscribed in two lines on both fasciae.

Letters: Line 1, 0.07; line 2, 0.065

Date: First century A.D. (lettering, prosopography)

Findspot: Aphrodisias: Sebasteion, Propylon: A: W. Prop. I-82, Find 5, -110; B: re-used in a field wall near Propylon, W-Seb II-81, Find 44.
