ii,.1-3: The spaces reflect a break in the stone

English translation

Translation by: Joyce M. Reynolds

(i): The tomb-chamber is the property of Gaia Julia Doris, conceded to her by Aurelia Dionysia.

(ii): The tomb-chamber is the property of Marcus Aurelius Clarus son of Clarus as is made clear in the concession given to him by Aurelia Dionysia. In the tomb-chamber Clarus himself shall be buried and whomsoever he wishes; but no-one else shall have the right to be buried in the tomb-chamber, since anyone who has dared (scil. to do) anything of the kind is to be (scil. considered) accursed and a tomb-breaker and is to pay to the most sacred Treasury (i.e. the imperial treasury) 500 denarii. A copy of this has been placed in the Property-archive.
