15.340. Funerary inscription for Marcus Carminius Jason and Statilia Diogenia

Description: Part of the front of a white marble garlands sarcophagus w: 0.99 × h: 0.49 × d: 0.15; for description see Işık 175.

Text: Inscribed in the tabella (die w: 0.27 × h: 0.25) from which an earlier inscription has been erased; lines 1-3 on the upper moulding, ll 4 ff. impinging on the side mouldings.

Letters: poorly designed, cut and aligned, 0.02; lunate epsilon, sigma, omega; very poorly cut; there may have been erasure in lines8-10; non-standard spelling in line 2.

Date: Perhaps first half of the third century . (lettering, nomenclature)
