8.17. Place inscription(?) of Kapuras and Philologos

Description: Wall of doorway to stage room.

Text: On face of block.

Letters: All the letters are square; those of line 1, 0.07-0.075, are carefully cut, with circular stops; lines 2, 0.05-0.07, and 3, 0.04, are less carefully cut, and appear to be a later addition, squeezed in. Line 1 is in script very similar to 3.ii.

Date: First to sixth century CE (context)

Findspot: Aphrodisias: Theatre: stage, skene frons: doorway of the fourth stage room from north, on the outer, north, face of the block above the door: this room opens onto the south side of the central stage corridor.

One of the group of inscriptions, apparently by performers, at the doorways of the rooms on the stage front: 8.8, 8.9, 8.104, 8.15, 8.16, 8.17, 8.18, 8.19, 8.20, 8.21, 8.22. .
