1.301. i. Letter from a Roman official (a curator)(?) to Aphrodisias. ii Place inscription of Kyriakos, trouser-maker

Description: Two fragments from a white marble door post from the right side of a door, 1: fragment with right side surviving (w: 0.15 × h: 0.19 × d: 0.07). 2: larger fragment ( w: 0.42 × h: 1.34 × d: 0.42) broken above and below and damaged on the surface.

Text: . a: inscribed on a projecting area of 1; i.b (inscribed area w: 0.26 × h: 0.30) is inscribed on 2, and ii. is lightly cut some 10 cm lower down.

Letters: i. a: lines 1, 3-5, 0.015; line 2, 0.01; dots on either side of Α in line 1, and Ε in line 2, between S and E in line 3. b: 0.008; dots for stops. ii: Lightly cut and sprawling, 0.03-0.05.

Date: i. Second century CE; ii. Fifth to sixth centuries CE (lettering, location, content)

Findspot: Aphrodisias: Temple/Church, Temenos: a found loose near the Tetrapylon; b: ‘aux premiers propylées, axe du temple’ (Gaudin), found during investigation of the east wall
