Description: Two adjoining pieces of the lower part of a white marble sarcophagus, w: 1.13 × h: 0.20 × d: 104, and w: 1.15 × h: 0.24 × d: 1.01; traces of figures above.

Text: Inscribed in four lines on a broad lower border; the text must have begun on an upper feature.

Letters: 0.025

Date: Second to third centuries CE (lettering)

Findspot: Aphrodisias: Necropolis, West area: with the remains of a monumental tomb in the field south of the road to New Geyre, about 0.25 mile east of New Geyre.

[ . . . in the ] sarcophagus has been buried Lucia Antoniane who was brought up with Theophilos; there will be placed in the sarcophagus Theophilos who built the heroon, and Lucia Antonia Aurelia Ariste, (daughter) of Kallias, the daughter of Apphia [. . . .] brought up by Theophilos; no one else will have authority to bury in the sarcophagus or to exhume any of those buried in it.
