Description: Marble sarcophagus, with sarcophagus lid: w: 2.07 × h: 1.085 × d: 0.77. On both ends of the lid a representation of two reclining figures (Psyche [left] and Hypnos [right]). On the body of the sarcophagus two Nikai support two fruited garlands; a pair of Erotes supports a tabula ansata; on either side of the tabula two portrait busts, in the lunette above the garland; in the left lunette the bust of a boy wearing a himation; in the right lunette the bust of a woman dressed in chiton and himation, with a hairstyle similar to that of Iulia Domna.

Text: Inscribed along the top (line 1) and the lower edge (lines 2-3) of the lid, on the upper edge of the body (line 4) and in the tabula ansata (lines 5-21). Lines 2 and 3 are interrupted by bosses.

The sarcophagus and the niche underneath it and the place on which they stand belong to Marcus Aurelius Epagathos, son of Menodotos, son of Menodotos son of Epagathos, son of [---] in which sarcophagus is buried Menodotos, his son. (Here) will also be buried the aforemantioned Epagathos and his wife, Aurelia Attalis. No other person will have the authorization to bury someone or to remove one of those who have been buried here, by means of a decree, or an act of the council or a gubernatorial petition; for whoever acts against this will be impious and accursed and a tomb robber and will pay, in addition to this, to the Goddess Aphrodite 2,000 silver denarii and to the centurion at the site 1,000 denarii, of which one third belongs to the vindicator. A copy of this inscription was deposited in the registry during the 16th stephanephorate of Tiberius Claudius Attalos Ioulianos, in the seventh month.
