11.42. Funerary fragment

Description: Fragment of white marble panel from a sarcophagus front, very worn (w: 0.90 × h: 0.55), with a rebate on three edges.

Text: Inscribed on the face; below the text is a relief of a circular object in the centre and a vertical object - a shovel? - to its left. The drawing suggests that there may have been a scroll to the left of line 4.

Letters: 0.02. Standard second to third century forms.

Date: Second to third centuries CE (lettering, prosopography)
