Description: A bluish marble columnar statue base shaft, broken below (h: 1.45 × diam: 0.55).

Text: Inscribed on the face, carefully laid out.

Letters: 0.05-0.06; lines 9, 4, 0.065; elongated and elegantly cut.

Date: A.D. 385/388. (prosopography)

Findspot: Aphrodisias: Place of Palms/South Agora: West Portico: 'Galerie de l'Est—Partie S(ud) ' (Boulanger); lying in the southern stretch.

The Council, in exchange for many benefits, set up this (scil. statue of) Menandros, who was affable to all, and who, making a welcome repayment for his rearing to the great city, moderated (scil. her) tribute, and established light for all.
