1.188. Funerary formula from sarcophagus fragment

Description: Part of the front of a white marble garland sarcophagus, broken at either side and below: see Işık 75 for fuller description.

Text: Inscribed along the upper edge (surviving width of inscription, 0.70). In the second line the cutter has had to avoid elements of the decorative relief. The full text must have begun on the lid, and finished on the lower moulding.

Letters: 0.02, neatly cut

Date: Probably middle third century . (lettering, spelling)
