13.624. Epitaph of Aurelia Ammia and family members (and later of Aurelia Zosime)

Description: Marble sarcophagus, and sarcophagus lid: w: 2.00 × h: 1.14 × d: 0.82. Lid with a plain uncarved roof; on the right end a pediment with phiale; on the front a tabula ansata held by two Erotes; left and right two garlands with two busts, one in each swag (head of the left bust broken off); two Nikai left and right of the garlands.

Text: Inscribed A, line 1 on lid, line 2 on the upper edge of the body; B in the tabula.

Date: A: early Severan; B mid third century CE (material context)

Findspot: Aphrodisias: Necropolis, West area, found in in New Geyre, in the garden of S. Karaköse.
