13.127. Funerary fragment

Description: Two adjoining pieces of a white marble sarcophagus base, partially adapted with a view to re-use (w: 1.92 × h: 0.28 × d: 0.83).

Text: Inscribed on the moulding, which was already faulty or damaged (the lettering in lines 2 and 3 dips into a chipped area).

Letters: Second to third centuries C.E. standard forms; lines 1, 2, ave. 0.025; line 3, 0.03. Diacritical points on either side of the second Υ in line 3.

Date: Second to third centuries CE (lettering)

Findspot: Aphrodisias: Necropolis, North-east: in the tomb east of the East Wall excavated by the Museum, 1991/92.
