i: The devoted City-Council of the Aphrodisians set you up here, Oikoumenios, the famous governor, (scil. you who,) replete with the (scil. knowledge of) Laws, hast mixed the Italic Muse with the sweet-spoken honey of the Attic one. For a man of pure mind and unsullied
hand can find no honor greater than a good remembrance of himself.

the friendly council of the Aphrodisians has set you up here; for what greater reward than that of being well remembered can
the man find who is pure in mind and in hand?

(i): Dich, der du voll bist von Kenntnis der Gesetze, der du die italische Muse gemischt hast mit dem süssredenden Honig der
attischen Sprache, diesen hier, den Oikumenios, den vielbesungenen Statthalter hat der befreundete Rat von Aphrodisias aufgestellt;
denn welche grössere Ehrengabe kann ein Mann, rein im Sinn und an den Händen, finden als gutes Gedenken?
